A link to a PDF of the LOA is now available from the home page.

Anyone not having a current TAC in their glider may wish to visit this site

http://skyvector.com/

It allows free printing of current sectional and terminal charts. The TAC view of the Luke SATR can be seen here

Yesterday Roy C and I signed a letter of agreement with Luke Approach. The LOA has been negotiated over the course of the last couple of months and, in its final form, allows for both non-radio and radio equipped gliders to operate within a 3NM radius of Turf, inside the active SATR area, without being in contact with Luke Approach. This requires notification being provided to Luke of the start and end of glider operations. This notification will normally be provided by the Turf operations desk but can also be provided by radio.

While we would have preferred a 5 statute mile radius Luke was not willing to allow that. It seems likely that there will be the possibility to re-negotiate the terms of the LOA after some operational experience.

The LOA will be published from an ASA home page link and I assume that it will also be posted at Turf.

Please read and understand the LOA, or remain clear of the SATR area when it is active.

Note that the SATR is not depicted in the current Garmin databases. Luke is aware of this and intends to request Garmin to include it.

SATR airspace files in the various glider SUA formats are available.
